Most young girls of this generation have probably experienced “fangirling” at least once in their lives. That feeling of wanting to scream, cry, laugh, and enjoy the moment when you see your idol face-to-face! And as a fan, one way to show your admiration is to follow your idols on social media and hope that they’ll notice you when you post something about them.
Recently, Twitter user @kayla edited a photo of pop singer, Shawn Mendes with a butterfly tattoo on his arm. The post went viral and gained more than 86,000 likes and 7,000 retweets that eventually came to Mendes’ attention. But the “Señorita” singer didn’t just thank his fan for the design—the next thing we knew, he even followed his lucky fan on Twitter and asked her for the design.

In an interview with InqPOP!, Kayla shared that she was at the car wash when she received a lot of calls and texts, telling her that Mendes quoted her Twitter post.
“I didn’t think he’d see my tweet let alone actually get the tattoo 3 days later haha. It honestly still doesn’t feel real but he’s seriously such a kind person and I’m so thankful for him and everything that’s happened!”

The tattoo design was originally conceptualized by an artist from Chile under the username @macdreaper.
