Handog ng Ang Pahayagang Plaridel DLSU ang BayLayn 2019: Aktibo at matalinong pamamahayag, binhi ng pag-unlad at pagbabago

The official student publication of De La Salle University, or Ang Pahayagang Plaridel, will be hosting Para sa Bayan at Lasalyano (Baylayn) 2019. It will be held on February 16, from 6:30 in the morning until 5:30 in the afternoon at De La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Malate, Manila. The central theme for its 15th year is “Aktibo at matalinong pamamahayag, binhi ng pag-unlad at pagbabago.” The publication wishes to enhance the skills of the youth in the field of journalism with the help of different workshops at competition. Students from the secondary level as well as mentos from different public and private schools will be attending BayLayn 2019.

In line with the said activities, BayLayn 2019 will consist of seven main workshops and competitions: News Writing, Sports Writing, Feature Writing, Editorial Writing, Editorial Cartooning, Photojournalism, Copyediting and Headline Writing. For the competition, each competing publication must send up to two contestants per category. After the said activities, the most awaited talk will present Pia Hontiveros and Manuel Mogato as the speakers.

Plaridel expects that BayLayn will serve as an emancipatory vehicle of truth. With the generous help from different major sponsors – Booky, Vitamilk, Chowking – the opportunity for campus journalists to enhance their prowess in journalism will be made possible.

The publication will enduringly be an arena to hone the different skills of student journalists. It will enduringly serve as a platform to expose pro-Lasallian and pro-Filipino issues.
