WATCH: Final trailer of Harlem’s Queen rises and confronts new menace in Marvel’s Luke Cage

“You don’t need to be bulletproof to be a superhero. Black women have always had superpowers; turning pain into progress. Harlem doesn’t need a hero, it needs a Queen.” – Mariah Dillard

In the final trailer for the new season of Marvel’s Luke Cage, which premieres globally on Netflix June 22, Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard) is faced with an imminent and formidable threat to her hold over Harlem – the unstoppable Bushmaster. Armed with Mariah’s deepest secrets, Bushmaster (Mustafa Shakir) endangers everything that she holds most dear. Meanwhile, Luke Cage (Mike Colter) wrestles with the idea of intervening and protecting Mariah for the good of Harlem.

The final preview of Marvel’s Luke Cage season two gives us a closer look at Mariah, impeccably played by Alfre Woodard portraying one of the most complex, badass roles on television going up against Luke’s bulletproof foil, Bushmaster, played by new cast member Mustafa Shakir. With Bushmaster and Mariah going head-to-head over the fate of Harlem, Luke will have to decide if the enemy of his enemy, is actually the ally he needs.

About Marvel’s Luke Cage Season Two: After clearing his name, Luke Cage has become a celebrity on the streets of Harlem with a reputation as bulletproof as his skin. But being so visible has only increased his need to protect the community and find the limits of who he can and can’t save. With the rise of a formidable new foe, Luke is forced to confront the fine line that separates a hero from a villain.

Credits: Marvel’s Luke Cage stars Mike Colter (Extinction). The second season is executive produced by series showrunner Cheo Hodari Coker (Ray Donovan), Jim Chory (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), and Jeph Loeb (Marvel’s Jessica Jones), who also serves as Marvel’s Head of Television. The premiere episode of season two is directed by Lucy Liu (Future World). The cast also features Simone Missick (Ray Donovan), Alfre Woodard (12 Years a Slave), Theo Rossi (Sons of Anarchy), Mustafa Shakir (The Deuce), Gabrielle Dennis (Rosewood) and Rosario Dawson (Marvel’s Daredevil).
