From time to time, more and more people are getting hooked into the Japanese culture. Be it in terms of manga, anime, live action movies and television series, Japan has undoubtedly influence many lives. Therefore, cosplay is getting a lot more popular than it ever was before.

Starting from just a handful of yearly events ages ago, manga and anime fans who referred to themselves as “otaku” are having more competitions and celebrations where they participate each month.

For the month of August, here are the three biggest cosplay events you must attend to as an otaku!

Anime and Manga Expo (AMX) 2017

In celebration of the 100 years of anime (1917-2017), this event will have a 19-day appreciation of Japanese manga, anime and music which will begin on August 1 to 19 where there will be an exhibit on SM Center Las Piñas along with different competitions on certain dates.

You can finally sing your favorite opening or ending song to your heart’s content in the Japanese Karaoke Challenge on August 6. You can also unleash the inner Picasso in you by joining the Drawing and Art Contest on August 13. Lastly, you can try acting like your favorite character and at the same time sing your favorite theme song as well in Your Cosplay Sounds Familiar on August 19. But if you only want to become your favorite character then you might prefer the Cosplay Battle on the same day.

If you think you are already satisfied with the amount of anime merchandise you have at home, then this event will prove you wrong. You will surely be tempted to add some stuff to your collection as you roam around with other fans.

And aside from the usual cosplay, art and singing competitions, there will also be an eating contest! It might spoil your diet but who cares? Sounds fun, right?

Take a look at the special guests as well. You might have known some of them already. One of them might even be your favorite artist as well.

This is just a two-day event to participate in case you have your schedule full. It will be held on Megatrade Hall, SM Megamall with an entrance fee of Php180.

Asia Pop Comicon Manila 2017

Being a comic fan sometimes goes beyond the Japanese culture, this event showcases Hollywood and other Asian comics and cartoons. The previous special guests were some of Marvel superhero actors and international stars. Now that’s an ultimate fan experience! Well you can expect more from the biggest comic con event not just in the Philippines but in Asia as well.
