Filipino modern rock band Lola Amour spoke out in a post made on their official social media accounts after their hit song “Raining in Manila” was reportedly used for a political campaign’s jingle. While there was no revelation as to which specific candidate’s party had been subject to this execution, it appears this was not the first instance where their work had been put to use for this means.
On X (formerly Twitter), the band replied to a user who spoke on the issue, writing, “Btw (by the way) guys, this happened before and I guess it’s happening again: All of the campaign jingles using our songs do not have our consent. Vote wisely.”

Lola Amour took further action by announcing their awareness on the matter on Facebook, and clarified that they were not in agreement with their song being used without their knowledge for a political effort.

The post read, “Madami na naman daw gumagamit ng mga kanta namin para sa mga campaign jingles. [We heard that many are using our songs again for campaign jingles. ] Please note that all of those are used WITHOUT our consent,” humorously quoting at the end, “What if I told you that it’s stolen?”
Social media users online have seemingly poked fun at the situation, raising truths under the guise of a joke. One user wrote, “Tumatakbo pa nga lang magnanakaw na. [They’re still running, but they’re already stealing.]”
Another added, “Kaya nga nila nakawin pondo ng bayan kanta niyo pa kaya. Mga literal talaga na magnanakaw mga pulitiko, walang bago.”, “They’re capable of stealing our funds what more your songs. Politicians are literally thieves, nothing new.”
Lola Amour left a comment on the post, finalizing, “We will never endorse a candidate we don’t believe in or ‘di namin alam yung platform. [We will never endorse a candidate we don’t believe in or whose platform we are not knowledgeable about.]”
