‘Incognito’ team earns praise for honoring Filipino heroes behind character names

A recent Facebook post by Star Creatives, in celebration of “Araw ng Kagitingan,” has sparked widespread admiration among social media users.

The post, titled “Incognito Kontraks Decoded: The Filipino Legends Behind the Names of the Kontraks,” offered an insightful exploration into the rich cultural inspiration behind the names of the characters featured on the hit show Incognito Kontraks.

“In honor of Araw ng Kagitingan, we’re unveiling the Filipino heroes behind the Kontraks’ names!,” the post reads.

“Each name tells a story of courage, resilience, and patriotism—just like our heroes of old,” they added.

The heroes that were inspired by the characters include Andres Bonifacio, Miguel Malvar, Jose Rizal, Gregorio Del Pilar, Pedro Paterno, Trinidad Tecson, Macario Sakay, Rosa Sevilla Alvero, Gabriela Silang, Leonor Rivera, Tomás Claudio, and Fernando Guerrero.

Many social media users were amazed with the names of the characters and took to the comments to express their thoughts on the said post.

One user wrote, “Good thinking, and what a clever way to tie in the Kontraks’ names with Filipino heroes!”

Another user wrote, “Para bang hindi ito nagkataon lang. Sinadyang ilapat ang mga pangalan nila sa ‘Incognito’ bilang pagpupugay sa kanila [As if this wasn’t a coincidence. Intentionally putting their names in ‘Incognito’ in their honor].”

A third user wrote, “Yun nga ang napansin ko sa INCOGNITO character names, tunog bayani. Galing ng writer nito at yung nag concept ng istorya. Saludo po sa inyo [That’s what I noticed in INCOGNITO character names, sounds like hero. The writer of this and the one who concepted the story are great. Salute to you].”
