The love interest of numerous Disney princesses, Prince Charming, is getting his own feature film.
Paul King, the director of “Wonka” and the first two “Paddington” films, is directing “Prince Charming” for Disney. The screenplay, which King, Simon Barnaby, and Jon Croker are co-writing, does not have a confirmed plot yet.
It is still unknown whether the movie will be animated or live-action. When a damsel in distress is in danger, the Prince Charming character in traditional fairy tales steps in to save her from evil forces or stepmothers.
Take a look at “Rapunzel,” “Snow White,” “Cinderella,” “Sleeping Beauty,” and pretty much every other Disney film from the 20th century (the era, not the studio). But in those movies, he is typically a supporting role rather than the lead.
Prince Charming has been reduced to a pretty, wealthy, and stupid guy in other recent productions, which seems to be outside of the realm of King’s intentions. Audiences are more likely to learn what makes a prince so particular that he will follow a woman around wearing only half of her shoes.
Although Prince Charming was Cinderella’s initial love interest, this project will not be explicitly associated with the curfew-breaking princess according to the report made by Deadline.
Most recently, the British filmmaker led the origin story “Wonka,” which starred Timothee Chalamet, as the renowned fictitious chocolatier, to $218 million at the domestic box office and $634 million worldwide.
Both Warner Bros. and theater owners, who benefited from the “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” offshoot, were pleasantly surprised by the commercial success.
King also directed the acclaimed 2014 film “Paddington” and its 2017 sequel, which brought in a total of $615 million worldwide. He has contributed to the story for the most recent adventure about everyone’s favorite marmalade-loving bear, even though he is not directing the next threequel, “Paddington in Peru.”
