Girl in a jacket

16-year-old motorsport racer Jacq Buncio continues her brother’s legacy with TOTAL Hi Perf

In a sport dominated by male racers, female motorsport racer Jacquelyn Buncio continues to prove that women can stand equally with men.

Jacquelyn, also known as Jacq, is the youngest sister of the late superbikes’ legend, Maico Buncio. Her brother’s sudden death inspired Jacq to continue his legacy and fulfill his dream. She started racing three years ago, and in just a short period of time, she has already made her mark in the motorsport history. She was the youngest and the first female motorsport racer to win the 2016 Philippine Pirelli Superbike Championship.

And she is just getting started.

During the press luncheon last Thursday, June 8, Jacq shared her dream to be the first Filipina to win in international racing. She said that she pursued motorcycle racing (in spite of her father’s objections) because she wanted to finish Maico’s legacy in Philippine motorsport. Despite the constant stereotypical comments she receives during the race, she is determined to prove that being a young woman does not make her any less of a racer than older men.

Her determination, passion, and focus caught the attention of TOTAL, a leading international oil and gas company. They have decided to fuel her passion in motorsport by choosing her as the brand ambassador of TOTAL Hi Perf.

According to Mr. Chito Poblete, Managing Director for TOTAL Philippines, Jacq shares the same drive and passion for excellence they practice. That is why they are eager to share in her dreams and help her achieve it every step of the way. Specifically, making sure her bike is in tip top shape with TOTAL Hi Perf.

As Jacq continues to defy stereotypes and find a place among the greats with TOTAL Hi Perf, she will be an inspiration to many people.
