NCT 127 take a ‘Walk’ in their 6th studio album

If this hasn’t turned you into an NCTzen yet, then tbh you’re missing out—real bad.

On July 15, 2024 at 6 P.M. KST, NCT 127 released their newest record, “WALK” on all streaming platforms, along with the music video for the album’s lead single. This is the nine-member group’s 6th studio album, coming six months after their release of their first digital single, “Be There For Me – Winter Special Single” last December 2023.

This is also NCT 127’s first comeback where they are promoting without their leader, Taeyong, who is currently serving as an active-duty soldier in the South Korean navy. Member Taeil will also be returning as an active member of the group, as he had been on hiatus following an injury obtained from a car accident in August 2023.

“WALK” consists of 11 tracks, including the title track of the same name, all with varying genres. Upon announcement of the album, SM Entertainment stated that it reflects on and pays homage to NCT 127’s “neo” genre, and a journey forward to the group’s future path.

“WALK” was also reported to be “the birth of another masterpiece filled with the most NCT 127-like music.”

The album’s lead single, also titled “Walk”, was introduced by SM Entertainment as “a fusion of boom-bap style drums, retro guitar riffs and synth sounds reminiscent of early 2000s hip-hop.” The song’s lyrics also evoke NCT 127’s intentions of moving forward in confidence “as they assert their determination to carve out their own niche in the music industry.”

NCTzens had nothing but praises to say for the Seoul-based NCT sub-unit’s newest record, especially noting how the group has once again solidified its discography as an “untouchable run.”

NCTzens were also quick to notice how member Johnny had an abundance of lines this time around, as he was usually stuck to saying the “cringy English lines” in most of NCT 127’s tracks.

Needless to say, NCTzens can once again all agree (hopefully) that “Walk” is another unskippable album and another masterpiece to be proud of. And honestly? All NCT sub-units have been serving boy band excellence recently.

Like, there’s no doubt about how much effort they put into their music and artistry. That, in itself, is what makes them true artists.
