‘Modern Family’ cast reunites for hilarious ad, fans react and wish for an actual reunion

The Modern Family gang has regrouped and is back at the Dunphy home!

Phil Dunphy, Claire Dunphy, Cam Tucker, and Mitchell Pritchett from the popular ABC sitcom, played respectively by Ty Burrell, Julie Bowen, Eric Stonestreet, and Jesse Tyler Ferguson, have returned to their roles for a new ad.

In an attempt to “address America’s blue and green bubble” messaging divide, the foursome reportedly went back to the Dunphy house and gave an update on what the cherished family has been up to since the 2020 series finale.

The commercial opens with Phil, Claire, and Cam expressing their reactions to a cute picture that Hayley (Sarah Hyland) posted to the family group chat.

As he walks into the room, Mitchell exclaims, “Oh, let me see!” Clarie and Cam quiet down when Phil tells them to check the group chat, and he realizes he put his foot in his mouth by mistake.

Before saying his famous line, “Shame!” Mitchell asks, “You started a family chat without me?”

Cam responds, “It’s not you! It’s just your new phone,” and Claire goes on, “Blurry photos, weird likes.”

After overhearing their chat through the window, a painter advises them to use the messaging app.

Before going to bed, Cam and Mitchell browse through their phones as the action shifts to the Pritchett-Tucker home. Mitchell acknowledges he’s finding it difficult to let go of being excluded from the group’s new chat as he responds to Claire’s amusing selfies that she shared.

It’s enjoyable, he remarks, “I still can’t believe you cut me out!”

With a gesture toward the phone, Cam says, “Well, we may have cut you from here,” and then puts his hand over his heart. “Never from here.”

Social media users were delighted over this comeback as they tweeted on X their disappointment that it’s only for a commercial.

From 2009 to 2020, Modern Family aired for 11 seasons, chronicling the relationships, lives, and comical mishaps of three distinct families living together as one large family.
