AI-generated images of Katy Perry and Rihanna ‘attending’ MET Gala dupe social media users

Pictures of famous singers Katy Perry and Rihanna ‘attending’ the recently held MET Gala have been going viral on social media.

However, here’s a fact: Neither of the singers attended the event. Some social media users are actually surprised to discover that these are actually AI-generated photos.

With that, Katy Perry posted on her Instagram stating the reason she was not present at the event.

Perry wrote, “couldn’t make it to the MET, had to work,” alongside two fictitious photos of herself that she posted to Instagram.

On social media, there are two AI-generated pictures of Katy Perry that are going around.

On X, a picture of the singer wearing a moss-trimmed floral gown has received over 13 million views. With more than 5 million views, an additional AI photo of the singer has gone viral. This time, she is seen walking the red carpet in a gold corseted gown with a key breastplate. The dress went well with the 2024 theme, The Garden of Time, which is based on a short story about a count and countess who pick flowers that can turn back time.

The singer also posted a screenshot of her mother, who was duped by the same image, and their conversation.

Perry wrote, “lol mom the AI got you too, BEWARE!” in a message.

On the other hand, the iconic Rihanna, as reported by People, could not attend the annual gala due to the flu. However, the singer also had an AI-generated photo of her attending the MET gala, the same as Katy Perry’s; it has a flowery and vine element extravaganza.

As both singers are known for their iconic looks at every MET gala they attend, it was expected that many people anticipated their appearance for this year’s splendid event.

A-list celebrities and the fashion industry elite attend the yearly charity event, which this year featured hosts Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, and Bad Bunny, in addition to Vogue’s Anna Wintour.
