Street Man Fighter dancer embroiled in controversy after rumors of relationship with a minor

Trigger Warning: Mentions of pedophilia

One word: Yikes.

A famous South Korean dancer who appeared in the Mnet TV program ‘Street Man Fighter’ was recently under fire for apparently having a sexual relationship with a minor, which eventually led to her pregnancy and its termination. The dance crew is now facing disbandment because of the issue.

The news was first reported by Salgoonews, which revealed that a “Mr. A,” who was a leader of a dance crew, recruited underaged members to compete in the team for ‘Street Woman Girls,’ and did so without discussing with his team. ‘Ms. B,’ the said minor that got pregnant, was also recruited into the team.

Later on, Mr. A and Ms. B had developed a deep relationship, with Ms. B telling Mr. A of her feelings through her private Instagram account. At the same time, Ms. B was telling her friends and close associates of their relationship and was also expressing her concerns over it.

The members of the dance crew found out about Ms. B’s pregnancy with Mr. A’s child through her private Instagram account, where she later on posted that she had aborted the pregnancy. The team decided to take the issue up with Mr. A, with the latter denying all allegations.

Following the denial of the allegations, the members of the dance crew started leaving. One member that requested to remain anonymous said “Mr. A lied to the members until the end,” and also continued on to say, “I don’t want a morally wrong situation to be buried as a simple incident. Please protect the dreams of the members.”

Mr. A responded to the allegations laid out by Salgoonews by saying, “We are resolving misunderstandings and problems with our team members,” and that they [he and the dance crew] will be resolving the issue at a company level.

While the identity of Mr. A was not revealed by the South Korean news outlet, netizens were able to decipher and de-blur the images used by the media and found out that it was Young J from the dance crew ‘Just Jerk.’

Social media users were appalled at the news and did not hesitate to give him a piece of their minds on the internet.

Prior to the news being released, other famous members of the dance crew were seen to have announced their departure.

On April 3, 2024, Young J spoke with South Korean media outlets about the accusations against him. He denied the claims of him having a relationship with a minor, but admitted that she was in a relationship with Ms. B and made it clear that they only became a couple after she became of legal age.

He said, “It’s true I’m dating ‘B.’ But we started our relationship after she became an adult. Because I was worried about the age difference between us, we only started dating after getting permission from A’s parents.”

Young J also said that the two of them were thinking of marriage. “We’re discussing getting married with our families. I’d like to say that we’re in a serious relationship and this is not a fling.”
