Malasimbo postpones annual music festival, laments lack of private and public support

The highly anticipated Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival in Puerto Galera has now been postponed before its set date, citing insufficient support and other complications.

Organizers of the event issued a statement on their Facebook page and wrote, “Sorry guys, we tried our best but due to insufficient support from the private and public sector and other complications which are out of our control, we have to postpone the planned Malasimbo Festival.”

They are putting the people’s safety first as they want to ensure there is good sound quality as well as safe volume levels so that attendees would be able to enjoy.

Malasimbo is currently looking for a new venue to host their event and has encouraged their avid followers to share their suggestions through social media or through their email.

“We apologize to anyone that had planned to attend our event, especially those who have already booked their resorts. We hope that you can use this post to show the resorts and try to get a refund on your bookings,” their statement continued.

They ended their statement by thanking everyone for understanding and continuous support.

The event was supposed to be held on March 15 to 17 with artists headlining such as Dilaw, Ichika Nito, Jazzanova, Morobeats, Blue Rats, and Selah Dub Warriors.

Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival was first held on February 18 and 19, 2011 in Puerto Galera. Its name is derived from the venue, the Malasimbo Amphitheater which is sculpted on Mt. Malasimbo.

This festival mixes traditional and contemporary arts and culture along with musical performances while at the same time working towards the protection and sustainability of the environment.

There is no specified date yet on when the festival will be moved.
