UP Open University launches 24 free online courses for 2024

The University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) has recently announced an innovative initiative for 2024, which offers 24 Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) covering a diverse range of topics. This move showcases UPOU’s unwavering commitment to providing accessible education globally. The UPOU MODeL MOOCs cater to a broad audience, including individuals seeking to enhance their skills and knowledge in various fields.

The MOOCs, which started with the “Basics of Resilience” course in January, operate all year round and offer participants the opportunity to obtain valuable training certificates. These e-certificates, granted upon completion of the courses, can be showcased on resumes, attesting to 16 hours of dedicated training.

The UPOU strongly emphasizes the flexibility of these courses, which are both self-paced and open to everyone. This flexibility enables learners to balance their professional and personal commitments while enhancing their expertise in their chosen fields.

The list of free courses includes an extensive range of subjects such as business analytics, digital office skills, gender sensitivity, video production, education technology, social entrepreneurship, and open and distance learning. The UPOU MODeL MOOCs aim to empower individuals with practical knowledge and skills, contributing to personal and professional growth.

The first course, “Basics of Resilience,” from January 15 to February 14, focuses on disaster risk reduction and management skills, highlighting the practical and timely nature of the offerings.

Enrollment for these courses is user-friendly. Existing UPOU MODeL account holders can effortlessly self-enroll through the UPOU website. New users can now register at obtain login credentials, and select their preferred courses.

The University of the Philippines Open University, a pioneer in online education in the Philippines, is building on its success. This expansion reinforces UPOU’s commitment to making quality education accessible to all, following the positive reception of its 23 free courses last year and its Bridge English and Mathematics programs.
