SEVENTEEN’s Woozi fulfills promise to Moonbin, releases heartfelt song on his birthday

Following through on his promise, SEVENTEEN’s Woozi expressed his love for the late Moonbin through a solo track release, as the latter turned 26 on Friday, January 26, 2024.

On April 19, 2023, Moonbin was found dead in his home in Gangnam district in Seoul, South Korea, leaving his fans and loved ones heartbroken.

Woozi had previously shared with fans his unpublished song, highlighting its special meaning to him. Moonbin is said to have expressed his love for the song the first time he heard it, and the former promised to bring it on the latter’s birthday.

In keeping with his promise to the late K-pop icon, Woozi released the track “What Kind of Future” at midnight on January 26 in South Korea (January 25 in the Philippines), which also happens to be Moonbin’s birthday.

Previously, Woozi commented on one of Moonbin’s Instagram posts, remembering how the star supported him and expressing how much he loved and cherished the star, “My Moonbin, I miss you a lot. It seems like just a week ago that we said we would make time to dance together and you told me I’m number 1 no matter what. I vividly remember you, with an unusually bright smile, declaring that I was definitely the best.

“What Kind of Future’ that you always kept asking when I would release it, I’ll make sure to release it on your birthday, even if I have to fight with the company. I already finished the Bibimmyeon you got me. You should’ve given me a chance to give you a birthday gift too, you’re so bad! I’m sorry that this is the only thing I can do for you. I love you, cherish you, and thank you. You will always remain the coolest and most appreciated younger brother in my heart. Let’s be happy. I love you, Bin,” he continued.

The heartwarming tribute led fans to be emotional and voicing how much of a true friend Woozi is.

Until now, it is still hard to accept that a bright star like Moonbin is gone too soon. Yet, like what Woozi said in the song credits, “I will never forget your smile filled with love, no matter what the future holds.”

Let us all pray and hope that our little Bin has found comfort wherever he is now.
