Founded in 2012, MINT Riffs is the official music ensemble of the Meridian International College that specialises in rock, RnB, pop, and original Pinoy music genres of music. The group’s name is derived from the parent school name Meridian International College, while Riff is a colloquialism that denotes a pattern of repeated notes that is common practice in contemporary jazz and pop music.
The group is comprised of young and promising talents in the music cynosure of MINT College that used the club as an opportunity to showcase their talents and worth. The decision to start this glee club for the school was taken by Professor Eugene Villaluz who is the Program Head of the school’s Music Business Management and also a member of New Minstrels and VIVA Entertainment.
The group is characterised by an intense passion and zeal to produce top-notch music that is sure to impact the mind and psyche of its listeners positively. The individuals who make it up are students of MINT College who share similar goals and aspirations as it pertains to music and have developed a puissant liking for each other. The group features a balanced mix of talents from every stratosphere of music, from sopranos, tenors, altos, to bass every vocal range is fully represented in this star-studded list of musical prodigies. They are huge fans of celebrities like Ely Buendia, Sarah Geronimo, Ogie Alcasid, Gary Valenciano, Regine Velasquez and many other OPM artists.
Commemorating their 5th anniversary, their upcoming concert is titled ‘V’ (the Roman numeral for 5) and is scheduled to hold at the Globe Auditorium, BGC Art centre, Maybank Performing Arts Theatre, Bonifacio Global City on the 19th of May 2017. In line with their commitment to creating quality songs and tunes that impact any listener, this concert promises to be inspiring, heart-warming and soul lifting to the listening audience.
