Vicke Blanka releases heartwarming music video for ‘Bitter,’ the theme from ‘The Pearl Legacy’

Japanese artist Vicke Blanka has released his latest song, ‘Bitter’ – taken from his upcoming new EP ‘Worldfly,’ which is set for release on Wednesday, October 25.

The new song was written for the movie ‘The Pearl Legacy,’ starring Manami Higa and Shohei Miura. The song was inspired by the memory of someone who has passed away, and just as the song’s lyrics “Life is bitter” suggest, the lightness of the track and Vicke Blanka’s gentle singing voice convey a bittersweet feel that will touch your heart and embrace you warmly.

A music video directed by Daisuke Hayakawa, who has worked on numerous masterpiece music videos and movies, has also been released. The ephemeral and nostalgic atmosphere of the visuals combine perfectly with the music, resulting in a music video that expresses the sentiment behind the song.

Vicke Blanka – ‘Bitter’ music video:

Comment from Vicke Blanka

“The beautiful scenes of the sea and the movement of the heart were so impressive that I couldn’t take my eyes off this film. Director Hayakawa’s cinematic spaces make me feel happiness. Please take a look.”

Comment from director Daisuke Hayakawa

“Whenever I pick up a novel to read or music to listen to, I like to use the blank space to organize my own thoughts. While listening to ‘Bitter’ while walking through the chaotic city streets, I discovered a beautiful blank space between the notes and the words. The faces of the people I love came to mind – my mother when she smiled, my father when he was angry – and the bitter memories I had forgotten came flooding back, and I burst into tears. I have tried to leave that blank space within this music video as well. Even when times are tough, ‘Bitter’ is a song that will reassure you. I hope that someday the bitterest of memories will become sweet.”

In addition, ‘Bitter’ will be included in Vicke Blanka’s new EP ‘Worldfly’ when it is released on October 25. The EP is now available for pre-order, pre-add on Apple Music and pre-save on Spotify.

The EP includes a varied selection of songs such as ‘Bitter’ that allow listeners to experience a multi-layered new world. It starts with the urgent, kinetic rock song ‘Kakumei,’ and also includes ‘Snake,’ whose music video was shot entirely on location in Paris, creating a buzz among fans. Also included are ‘Sad In Saudi Arabia’ and ‘Luca,’ two songs inspired by Vicke Blanka’s tours in Europe and the Middle East from this spring and the music cultures he experienced there firsthand. Ending with the title track, ‘Worldfly,’ the EP includes six songs altogether.

The limited first pressing of the physical release includes music videos for ‘Kakumei’ and ‘Snake,’ as well as a documentary titled ‘Document of Italy and France Live’ that shows footage from Vicke Blanka’s performances in Europe and the Middle East from this spring. It also features live footage from his performance at Zepp DiverCity in Tokyo on July 31, 2023, which was the final date of his Japan tour titled ‘Vicke Blanka LIVE HOUSE TOUR 2023,’ along with the audio recordings for all 18 songs from the same concert. This luxury-packed set also includes a special 52-page deluxe photo book and a card sleeve.

There is also a CD-only physical release, which includes radio-style segments of conversation between each of the songs, in which Vicke Blanka discusses the creation of each song, making it a can’t-miss item for fans.

Vicke Blanka will present the second edition of his special event series, this time titled ‘Vicke Blanka presents RAINBOW ROAD -Sho-,’ which will be held on Thursday, December 28 at Tokyo Dome City Hall. ‘RAINBOW ROAD’ is an event launched by Vicke Blanka as a place where fans can get together once a year. Don’t miss this special headline show by Vicke Blanka, a rare home performance in the midst of his jet-setting domestic and global touring calendar.
