On September 8, 2023, at 6 P.M. KST, D.O. proposed to all of his fans pre-released one of the songs from his upcoming 2nd E.P. “Expectation” titled, “별 떨어진다 (I Do),” along with its accompanying music video.

“Expectation” is set to be released on September 18, 2023, on all streaming platforms. With the mini record consisting of 7 tracks as earlier announced on EXO’s official social media pages, the album was also revealed to have a variety of genres—Ballad, Folk, Blues, Rock, and Metal, raising even more expectations from avid listeners.

“별 떨어진다 (I Do)” is a song described as a “soothing acoustic pop track with lyrics expressing one’s heartfelt wish on a night filled with shooting stars, hoping to spend eternity with their loved one.” The music video was also announced to be the sequel to D.O.’s first solo track, “That’s Okay,” which was released in July 2019 prior to his enlistment in the military.

EXO-Ls immediately fell in love with the song and its message, even likening it to an actual proposal. D.O., on the other hand, messaged fans on his Bubble thanking them for liking the song, and that it was a song about his relationship with his fans. Some fans also speculated about the track being dedicated to a certain someone but did not dive into it seriously and just reacted with memes.
