Kristel Fulgar reveals reason behind her canceled hosting gig for Seo In-guk’s fan meeting event

Filipino actress and singer Kristel Fulgar revealed the reason behind the sudden cancellation of her hosting gig for South Korean actor Seo In-guk’s fan meeting event in Manila last Saturday, August 12.

Hours before the event took place, Fulgar shared in an Instagram post that she will no longer be hosting the fan meet “due to unforeseen circumstances.”

A post shared by Kristel Fulgar (@kristelfulgar)

In the recent YouTube vlog by the artist, she shared what happened during the event including her experience while preparing for the event and the reason behind her sudden dismissal as the host.

“First time ko naka-experience ng ganitong scenario sa 20 years ko sa industry ng entertainment [This is the first time I have experienced this kind of scenario in my 20 years in the entertainment industry],” Fulgar shared teary-eyed.

She shared that she’s been at the venue since 7 AM for rehearsals then eventually, the Korean technical director from HY Official (the company behind the event) told her that she wouldn’t be hosting anymore.

“Parang, huh? Sandali lang naman, anong nangyari? Ang tagal kong pinrepare sarili ko rito, Wala akong ibang tinanggap na hosting kung hindi ito lang event na ito kasi nga dahil kay Seo In-guk [Like, huh? Wait, what happened? I’ve been preparing myself for this for so long. I didn’t accept any other hosting gigs except for this because of Seo In-guk],” she expressed.

Fulgar admitted that she’s not an expert in hosting, but owns up to her capability to connect with the fans of the actor as she’s also been a fan for 11 years.

“Kahit ‘di ko forte ang hosting ay tinanggap ko ito kasi tinitingnan ako as representative ng mga fans ni Seo In-guk. So hindi lang basta magiging host sa stage kung hindi magiging fan ako [Even though hosting isn’t my forte, I accepted this gig because I’m being seen as a representative of Seo In-guk’s fans. So, I won’t just be a host on stage, but I’ll also be a fan],” she said.

She further clarified the probable reason for her sudden dismissal due to her lack of energy during the rehearsals.

“Since rehearsal ‘yon, hindi ako sanay na ibigay yung 100% energy ko [Since that was a rehearsal, I wasn’t used to giving my 100% energy],” she said. “So kung nakulangan sila sa energy sa rehearsal, sabi ko I would do my best. Nage-expect ako na ipapaakyat ako ulit sa stage para maipakita ko ‘yung 100% na sinasabi ko pero hindi raw [So if they felt a lack of energy during the rehearsal, I told them I would do my best. I was expecting to be brought up on stage again to show my 100% that I was talking about, but they said no].”

They were saying that all they want is to have a successful event, but they didn’t even give me a second chance to prove myself].”

She then apologized to her fans who are expecting to see her on stage and interact with the Korean actor.

On a lighter note, despite not hosting the event, Fulgar got the chance to have a one-on-one interaction with the actor – wherein, they took several selfies and sang a duet of “All For You,” the soundtrack of the hit TV series “Reply 1997,” which Seo is a part of.
