Study shows Taylor Swift is the most listened-to artist among students with high GPAs

I guess Taylor Swift could really transport you to somewhere the culture’s clever.

A study by College Rover, a student-parent information tool for college, found that American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift is the top artist for students with the highest GPAs.

The study was conducted by surveying 1,025 students ages 18 to 23 regarding their study soundtracks and by analyzing songs in Spotify’s API to discover which music correlates with higher academic achievement.

As a result, Swift is the top favorite artist of students with a high GPA of 3.5 to 4.0, amounting to 30% of the respondents, followed by The Weeknd with 29%, and SZA with 26%.

While Swift tops the students with high GPAs, the overall favorite artist of Female students to study to is SZA with 34%, followed by Swift with 33%, and The Weeknd with 31%.

Similarly, for male students, The Weeknd tops their favorite artist to study to with 35%, followed by 21 Savage, Kendrick Lamar, and Drake, all of which with 28%.

Moreover, the top reason for students to listen to music while studying is “to make studying more enjoyable” and “to relax and reduce stress.”

Pop music is also the most listened-to genre when studying, followed by Lo-fi and Hip-Hop/Rap. However, for those who have a high GPA, Classical music followed by Instrumental and Indie, is their preferred genre.

Ultimately, the study takes into account the tempo (BPM) of the song as a huge contributor to listening to music while studying, stating that the majority of the songs found in Spotify’s study playlists are within moderate tempo – “helping students study without the temptation of falling asleep, or starting a dance party.”

So, if you’re looking for a good study partner, why not check if they’re a Swiftie first? Who knows, you might find a friend who can take you to the summit.
