Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet were supposed to have cameos in ‘Barbie’ movie, Gerwig reveals

Greta Gerwig, the director behind the highly-anticipated movie “Barbie,” shared that “Little Women” stars Saoirse Ronan and Timothée Chalamet were supposed to have cameos in the new film. Ronan and Chalamet have worked together for the iconic films “Lady Bird” and “Little Women,” which were both directed by Gerwig.

In “Lady Bird,” the two played the roles of Lady Bird McPherson and Kyle Scheible. On the other hand, it can be remembered that Ronan and Chalamet were both part of the 2019 film “Little Women” as Jo March and Laurie.

Aside from these films, Ronan is also known for the films “Hanna,” “Atonement,” “Brooklyn,” and many more. Meanwhile, Chalamet has also made his name in the world of films, especially for his role and incredible performance in “Call Me by Your Name” in 2017.

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Gerwig revealed that she planned on making Ronan appear in the film.

“Well, it was always going to have to be like a sort of smaller thing because she was actually producing at the time, which I am so proud of her for,” Gerwig said. The director added that she was going to make a cameo with Chalamet, but the two stars could not make it.

“And of course, it’s brilliant. But it was going to be a specialty cameo. I was also going to do a specialty cameo with Timmy, and both of them couldn’t do it, and I was so annoyed,” the director added. Gerwig said that she loves the two stars so much.

For her, it felt like she was doing something without her children. She added that she is not their mom, but she sort of feels like she is.

Ronan and Chalamet are among the most popular actors and actresses of their generation. The two had been busy with their project, which is said to be a reason behind the occupied schedules they had.
Chalamet was said to be busy shooting for the films “Dune: Part Two” and “Wonka.” While Ronan, on the other hand, was busy with her first film “The Outrun.”

In a report last year, Ronan said that she was supposed to have a cameo for “Barbie.” However, this did not happen because of the conflict in schedule that she had during that time. The actress also revealed back then that she was going to play another Barbie character in the film.
