Who knew Taylor Swift and Taylor Lautner would be teaching us a thing or two about relationships

During the recently concluded Eras Tour concert in Kansas City, Missouri, Taylor Swift brought Taylor Lautner on stage for a surprise appearance. The excitement and joy from the crowd was an understatement, especially when Lautner did an impressive cartwheel and backflip as his grand entrance. The backflip reminded many fans of the flip he also did in the movie, “Valentine’s Day,” where they starred alongside each other.

Although their past romance already has long been done, dating back to 2019, the heartfelt reunion felt as they shared a brief hug teaches us something more about relationships.

There is a lot of shared history for people who were in relationships. So, it is uncommon to see exes turn into friends, let alone from people who are in the spotlight. While Lautner was widely known as the inspiration for Swift’s, “Back to December,” Swift shared that Lautner had a positive influence on the whole, “Speak Now,” album. Just by knowing that, one would already realize how much positivity Lautner has brought to Swift’s life—and that is something you cannot erase or replace even after so many years.

Taylor Swift

Lautner is now married to Taylor Dome (yes, also a “Taylor!”). But actually, all three of them share a healthy friendship. In fact, Swift shared that the two have become some of her closest friends. You can even feel the authenticity of their friendship through their recreation of the famous “Spider-Man” meme while they were on set for the “I Can See You (Taylor’s Version) (From The Vault).”

For many fans, their reunion seemed the closure that their fans needed. Being friends with your ex is not usually one’s goal after ending the relationship. In fact, you are not even expected to be friends with them again. I guess, for most people, it just happens, especially when it did not end badly. As sad as it may sound, people are better off just friends. The earlier we realize that the freer we become from the relationships we once had. There is pain that comes with anything that ends, but sometimes, something beautiful comes out of it.

At the end of it all, Swift and Lautner’s relationship teaches us to be grateful for the people we once loved. The love may have ended, but the memories and experiences shared that helped shape who you are today are something to think about. As they share a conversation on stage, Lautner’s wife fangirls at the show. Everything in this Taylor-verse is just genuine happiness. No hatred, no bitterness. Only peace and maturity.

“I respect you so much. Not for the singer you are, the songwriter, the performer, but truly, for the human you are. You are gracious, humble, you are kind, and I’m honored to know you. So, thank you for having me be a part of this and being a part of my life.” — Taylor Lautner to Taylor Swift
