BLACKPINK’s Lisa snags three Guinness World Records as a soloist

There’s no doubt that the South Korean girl group BLACKPINK has already established their name in the global music scene. Aside from their worldwide domination as a quartet, BLACKPINK members are also thriving as soloists.

BLACKPINK’s Lisa achieved yet another career milestone as she received not one, not two, but THREE recognitions last year after her solo debut.

On January 24, the Guinness World Records confirmed that BLACKPINK’s Lisa just three world records in 2022. The famous singer-rapper now holds the following records as verified by GWR: the first solo K-pop winner at the MTV Video Music Awards, the first solo K-pop winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards, and the most followed K-pop idol on Instagram, with over 86 million followers. It can be remembered that the “Money” singer also snagged the record for the most viewed YouTube music video by a solo artist in 2021 after her debut single ‘LaLisa’ gained 73.6 million views in just 24 hours.

Guinness also revealed that Lisa topped the K-pop Video category, breaking BTS’s record, which, in 2019, was the only recipient of the recognition. She also bagged the most followers on Instagram for a K-pop artist with 86.9 million followers to date. Moreover, she’s now on the 38th spot of the most followed accounts worldwide on the said platform.

Lisa, real name Lalisa Manoban, made her first solo debut with her album ‘Lalisa’ in September 2021. The Thai superstar made history by hitting Billboard’s Top Charts in America during that year.

The said album has been considered one of the most successful songs by a South Korean soloist of all time. With Lisa’s remarkable songs, she is now considered as the most streamed K-pop solo artist on Spotify as well.

Born in Thailand, Lisa joined the K-pop industry in 2011 along with the other members, Jennie, Rose, and Jisoo. After their rigorous training, they debuted as a group in 2016. The members have more than 60 million followers on their individual accounts on Instagram, putting them at the peak of popularity in the international music realm today.
