Kehlani to release 3-part docuseries ‘blue water road trip’

Kehlani is back, and they’re about to take us on a special journey with their 3-part documentary series, blue water road trip.

The Grammy-nominated singer (whose pronouns are she and they) shared on Instagram on April 22 (Philippine time) the first teaser of their docuseries. “[I’m] excited to share something that means a lot to me. [E]arlier this year, after finishing the upcoming album, I took Honey Shot Productions on a road trip to experience the music in nature and reflect on some important aspects of my journey so far,” Kehlani wrote.

“We filmed the whole trip and created a 3-part mini-documentary. I [can’t] wait for you to see it,” they added. The first episode of blue water road trip is set to premiere on April 25.

Apart from the docuseries, Kehlani has also previously announced that they’ll be dropping their third studio album, “blue water road,” on April 29.

The singer first dropped the album’s lead single, “Altar,” back in September 2021. Months later, they then released the follow-up singles, “little story” in February 2022, and “up at night” (featuring Justin Bieber) in March 2022.

Other than Bieber, Kehlani’s new album includes songs featuring rapper Blxst, “FIGURES” singer Jessie Reyez, The Internet’s vocalist Syd, Grammy Award-winning artist Thundercat, and singer-songwriter Ambré.

“blue water road” is the follow-up to Kehlani’s 2020 album, “It Was Good Until It Wasn’t.” In a statement, Kehlani described “blue water road trip” as a “destination in my mind.”

“I’m giving everyone access. It’s an emotional journey, a sexual journey, and a spiritual journey. To me, the album is like a glasshouse. It’s light, transparent, and the sun is shining right through it,” the singer stated.
