IN PHOTOS: Martin Nievera bridges OPM’s past and present

“This is the moment, when all I’ve done – when all the dreaming, scheming and screaming, become one!” belts the Concert King Martin Nievera as he takes center stage at Kia Theater during his “The Best of Martin Nievera” concert last August 26.

With his belief that “…before we can go forward we have to look back,” Martin woos the crowd with some of his greatest hits: Be My Lady, Say That You Love Me, Hooked On A Feeling, Kahit Isang Saglit, Forever, Let Me Be The One, and You.

Joining him onstage were folk singer Noel Cabangon and singer-actress Zsa Zsa Padilla. Noel serenaded the crowd with Kanlugan and Tuwing Umuulan At Kapiling Ka; while Zsa Zsa sang Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin, and Ikaw Lamang — a duet with Martin.

Aside from keeping OPM alive through this concert, Martin also launched his latest album with PolyEast Records, Kahapon…Ngayon, which contains 12 new recordings of classic songs, some of which he performed that night: Saan Ka Man Naroroon, Usahay, and Paraisong Parisukat.

But that was not all, Martin also crooned familiar Broadway songs from West Side Story, Phantom of the Opera, Cats, Pippin, and Wicked in one medley, which brought applause from the audience.

Martin Nievera’s concert didn’t just aid in keeping OPM alive, but also helped the Philippine Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. and the Philippine Red Cross Quezon City, who are the beneficiaries of the concert.
