Kontra is a film project, established last 2010, that seeks to push the envelope of student filmmakers’ creativity by requiring participants to create a film which revolves around three random ingredients in the span of one week. Now on its 7th year, Kontra: The Alternative Film Project is here again, bolder than ever.
Best Film, Viewer’s Choice, and Most Creative Use of Ingredients are the three awards up for grabs for the contestants and the films will be judged by prominent film practitioners. This year, join us again for Kontra Screening and Awards Night, a night of celebrating bold, strange, and fearless film this May 27, 2016 to be held at Kuta Kape Galerya, Marikina.
Last year, with the three ingredients of soap, metal chain, and burnt rice, KIBKIB by James Beriso Leocadio won Best Film; MULAT CLARA by Darren Bacani won the Viewer’s Choice Award; and KUYA ODEP by Emmanuel Francis Zosa and Marc Gabat won the Most Creative Use of Ingredients. For this year, be prepared to witness films with cactus, dentures (pustiso), and snail (kuhol) as ingredients.
Tickets can be reserved ahead and will also be sold at the venue itself for PHP100 for all and PHP80 for students.
