GEM brings back ‘THE MUSIC DAY Songs For You’, its biggest annual music event featuring some of the hottest artists performing live from Japan on July 7, 2018, Saturday, at 4:40PM (3:40 PM JKT/BKK).
For its 6th year, J-Pop fans will be treated to a stunning lineup which include: ARASHI, Ayaka, Bro.KORN, DAICHI MIURA, EXILE, Fuku Suzuki, Johnny’s WEST, JSB III, KANJANI EIGHT, KAT-TUN, King & Prince, Kis-My-Ft2, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Mana Ashida, NEWS, Onyanko Club, PUFFY, Sexy Zone, THE ALFEE, Yu Takahashi, V6, WANIMA and more.
This year, GEM also partnered with top talent agency Johnny & Associates to bring Japanese group Hey! Say! JUMP to Hong Kong who will be performing live as part of THE MUSIC DAY Songs For You lineup.
During the press conference with Hey! Say! JUMP on July 6, the group expressed their excitement to perform live and meet their fans in Hong Kong.
The nine-member band composed of Ryosuke Yamada, Yuri Chinen, Yuto Nakajima, Keito Okamoto, Daiki Arioka, Yuya Takaki, Kei Inoo, Hikaru Yaotome and Kota Yabu, shared how happy they are to be included in the lineup and how this will bring them closer to their fans and be with them.
Yamada said that although THE MUSIC DAY is an annual event in Japan, it’s the first time that they’ll do it overseas and that they’re very happy for the opportunity to promote the event to the rest of the world. They’re hoping that they would make an impression—despite admitting that it is a bit of a challenge for them.
Arioka on the other hand, said that they want their performance to be so good that it beats the famous Hong Kong Habour view which in Japan is called “a view that’s worth a million dollars”.
When asked about the preparation for the event, one of the members jokingly said that it would be “skin care”. The group also prepared songs that they haven’t performed yet internationally and they hope that they will make their country proud.
Last year marked the 10th year anniversary of Hey! Say! JUMP, and they said that it has been a really great year for them as a lot of fans celebrated with them and they received a lot of encouragement from them.
Hey! Say! JUMP members shared that they have no solid plans yet for the future but they’re hoping to have an Asian Tour and be able to reach more international fans.
Okamoto’s announcement of departure from the band to study abroad prompted him to apologize to fans who were saddened and shocked by his decision. The other members expressed their support for Okamoto and asked their fans to continue to support them and promised they’ll work hard to be better so that they would make Okamoto proud when he comes back.
The band promises to give a “cool, impressive performance” during the music event and hopes that their fans outside Japan will keep following GEM for THE MUSIC DAY Songs For You broadcast.
