Neck Deep releases new song & music video for “Motion Sickness”

‘THE PEACE AND THE PANIC’
OUT AUGUST 18TH VIA HOPELESS RECORDS
PRE-ORDER HERE: neckdeep.lnk.to/TPATP

July 13th, 2017 – Singapore – Neck Deep has released the third track and music video for “Motion Sickness”, the lead track on their upcoming album, ‘The Peace and The Panic’, due out August 18th via Hopeless Records. On the track, singer Ben Barlow shares, “Motion Sickness is the song that really bridges the vibe and lyrical message of Life’s Not Out To Get You to the new album. It’s the song on ‘The Peace & The Panic’ that shares the most in common with what we’ve done before, whilst still fitting with the rest of the new material. Like a lot of the new record, it carries a theme of duality; the verses are about confusion and struggle, but the choruses are about not giving up, not letting hard times get the best of you.

The video perfectly exemplifies Neck Deep on and off the stage, documenting some highlights from the recording process in Southern California. The video gives you a “day in the life” vibe from Neck Deep as the band spends time on Venice Beach skateboarding, visiting Disneyland and live footage from their recent performances headlining Slam Dunk in the UK. Barlow continues saying “We shot the video with our friend and close collaborator Elliott Ingham whilst we were in LA recording the album. The song is so upbeat and energetic that we didn’t want the video to be too serious, so we just hung out on our days off from the studio and stitched all the footage together. There are some cool shots from the studio and from our headline sets at Slam Dunk in there too… The video just matches the songs mood of seizing life and grabbing opportunities that are in front of you.” Fans can watch the video, here: smarturl.it/MotionSicknessVideo.

The upcoming 11-track album, produced by Mike Green (Pierce The Veil, Paramore), is a meditation on the constant duality of life and the struggles that come with it. It comes blessed with an acknowledgement that seizing the day and having a laugh with your mates is important, but so is the personal growth that comes with pain and existential crisis. This album will show a duality of sounds, which carries through to the various PEACE and PANIC pre-order bundles, now available at  neckdeep.lnk.to/TPATP.

Neck Deep gave fans a double dose of new music with their first two song and video releases from this album earlier this summer. Featured on numerous Apple Music, Spotify and Amazon playlists, along with numerous radio spins and features on Sirius XM, “Where Do We Go When We Go” and “Happy Judgement Day” reflect both the ‘Peace’ and ‘Panic’ sides of a coin that constantly spins across the album’s 11 tracks. “Where Do We Go When We Go” sees Barlow and his band wrestling with mortality, but recognising that ‘There’s a world full of possibilities / and a million people just like you’  while backed by the sort of infectious bounce and major-league chorus that we have come to love and expect from them. “Happy Judgement Day” meanwhile is all spidering riffing and wide-eyed terror at the brutal and reckless nature of a society edging ever closer to the apocalypse. The best bit of all: both songs sound unequivocally like Neck Deep on the top of their game.
