Top 10 of the Internet’s fave looks from Met Gala 2021

The red carpet was rolled out once more as the Met Gala finally pushed through after being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The theme for this year’s Met Gala is “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and celebs did not disappoint as they served looks while putting their own unique spins on the given theme.

Here are some of the Internet’s fave looks from this year’s Met Gala:

Though he strayed a bit from the event theme, Lil Nas X wowed at the Met Gala by serving not one, not two, but three different looks. Decked in Atelier Versace, the 22-year-old singer arrived draped in a shiny gold cape and later on revealed an even shinier golden suit of armor underneath. But that’s not the end of it — Lil Nas shed the golden suit of armor for his last surprise: a gilded bodysuit.

Billie Eilish successfully applied the event theme to her outfit. The 19-year-old singer donned a lovely peach gown designed by Oscar de la Renta, serving a look reminiscent of Old Hollywood.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wore a Brother Vellies white gown, and what drew everyone’s attention was the design at the back of her outfit. AOC’s take on the event’s theme was to make a statement with her look, with “Tax the Rich” written at the back of her dress in bold red letters.

BLACKPINK’s Rosé made history at the Met Gala along with K-Pop artist CL as the first two female K-Pop idols to attend the event. Rosé went for a simple but elegant look with an Yves Saint Laurent little black dress, topped with a big white bow.

Filipino-American rapper Saweetie stunned in a red Christian Cowan gown with a train designed as a nod to her heritage. The train resembles two flags — the Black Heritage flag and the Philippine flag.

Like Billie Eilish, Gigi Hadid went for Old Hollywood style. The 26-year-old model wore a white Prada gown and black leather arm gloves. To top it off, Gigi is a redhead again, adding to the Jessica Rabbit-esque look.

Kendall Jenner wore a custom Givenchy dress as a nod to vintage Hollywood, particularly to Eliza Doolittle, which is one of Audrey Hepburn’s most famous roles.

Yara Shahidi went for a Josephine Baker-inspired look with an embroidered Dior gown complete with a gold tulle veil and gloves.

Jennifer Lopez’s take on the American theme is western wear — think cowgirl but make it glamorous. The singer donned a Ralph Lauren gown and accessorized with a cowgirl hat to complete the glamorous western aesthetic.

Emily Blunt carried the American theme with a star-spangled look. The actress wore a Miu Miu corseted dress embroidered with crystals, and for the finishing touch she had an embellished headband (also by Miu Miu) glittering with pearls and stars. Blunt’s look is inspired by the gown worn by Hedy Lamarr in Ziegfeld Girl.
