Ben Affleck debunks a (gone) girl’s doubts when she unmatches him on Raya

Most people dream about dating their celebrity crush but never actually get a shot at it. However, for 29-year-old author, model and actress, Nivine Jay she did.. and she unintentionally shot him down.

Nivine Jay has gone viral on TikTok after posting a video about how she unmatched with 48- year-old Hollywood Star, Ben Affleck on Raya (the boujee aunt of Tinder), because she believed the account to be a catfish.

Affleck hasn’t had the best of luck with the ladies lately, what with his divorce from Jennifer Garner in 2018, his post-divorce relationship with Saturday Night Live producer, Lindsay Shookus  and more recently calling it splitskies with Knives Out star, Ana de Armas, just this January. It seems that Ben Affleck might have been on Raya actually looking for some love and companionship… maybe even for a smoking buddy.

Seemingly not too pleased about the rejection, Affleck then proceeded to slide into Jay’s Instagram DM’s, sending her a video as proof of confirmation that the account was in fact his. Ben Affleck is seen declaring “Nivine! Why did you unmatch me? It’s me.”

Before you start downloading Raya right now, you might want to know that it may be considered as one of the VIPs of dating apps. Raya is an exclusive dating app, famous amongst the Hollywood stars.

Not just anyone can create an account, you have to first know someone already on the app and be invited to join. Application supposedly involves a strict process, with only 8% of applicants being accepted into their circle. Oh yeah, and it also costs you $7.99 a month.

Nivine Jay’s TikTok currently has amassed 7.5 million views and 1.1 million likes. It passed under the close scrutiny of other social media users, garnering a mixed response of astonishment and disbelief — as well as cringing and disgust.

Jay commented on the backlash being received by Affleck due to her video, telling E! News

“I’m seeing a lot of comments calling him a creep, and I don’t think that’s fair. I wasn’t making fun of him in the video. I was making fun of myself for thinking he was a catfish and it was just supposed to be funny”

Now, there have been no official statements from Affleck confirming whether or not the entire interaction really did occur, so we don’t even know if this failed Wattpad-esque fan fiction plot is even true!

Hopefully he does make a statement soon, allowing for the plot to thicken, and only then will we know if the story is indeed a (failed) fairytale come true or indeed truly a fan fiction, in every sense of those two words.
