Lenten Season reflections with Globe Rewards: Donate your points to feed the hungry

As Filipinos continue to grapple with uncertainties due to the rising cases of Covid-19, Globe invites its customers to support partner communities by donating unused Globe Rewards points to Walang Iwanan Alliance (WIA), through the Globe Rewards app.

“Together with WIA, donating points has allowed us at Globe Rewards to achieve so much in curbing the impact of this pandemic especially to poor families who continue to struggle to put food on the table,” said Joey Kilayko, Head of Globe Rewards.

One Globe Rewards point is equal to one peso, and since partnering with WIA in 2020, the telco giant was able to raise P5.2 million in funds for WIA alone. This allowed WIA to move and coordinate with LGUs, barangays, and current members of the alliance who serve as the on-ground support system to distribute 18,700 food packs or rice subsidies to low-income families directly affected by the pandemic in 39 barangays in Metro Manila and 18 barangays in other provinces in Luzon.

“With increasing cases of Covid daily, more and more families in highly dense areas in NCR are feeling the impact of the pandemic. We want to extend help to those underserved and struggling families. We are hopeful that our customers will support this initiative,” Kilayko added.

The fight against hunger is far from over as Filipinos face another lockdown this week.

Even with physical limitations brought by the ECQ anew, Globe enables customers to donate points from the safety of their homes via the Globe Rewards app which is available for download in both Google Play for Android or App Store for iOS devices.

In the spirit of Lent, Globe Rewards calls on its customers to continuously support other meaningful causes like this in partnership with other organizations such as ABS-CBN Foundation, Ayala Foundation, JCI Manila, Hopeline, and PGH Foundation, among others, just by donating points.
