Twitter cracks jokes over reported exploding Gwyneth Paltrow’s $75 ‘vagina’ candle

Gwyneth Paltrow’s signature candles are blowing up the market — but not in a good way.

The Hollywood star has reportedly caused an inferno in a woman’s home in the UK. Jody Thompson, a 50-year-old media consultant, recently won an unusual prize from taking an online quiz. The London resident won a “This Smells Like My Vagina” candle from Paltrow’s brand. While it may not be everyone’s ideal scent, it was considered a steal as the home good product usually sells for $75. However, Thompson got more than she bargained for when she went to light it. Apparently the candle emitted huge flames and sent fragments flying across the room. Thompson said she and her partner threw it out the front door before it could cause any serious damage.

People were quick to crack some jokes on Twitter once news spread of Thompson’s unfortunate vagina candle incident.

The vagina candle is a product of Goop, an alternative wellness and lifestyle company notoriously known for their eccentric products. Paltrow is the founder of Goop, which was launched back in 2008. Her brand has been previously criticized for creating their merchandise based on pseudoscience. Among her other unconventional products are a ‘Psychic Vampire Repellent’ spray, a vibrator necklace, and a $66 jade egg to be inserted into a woman’s vagina. Despite all of Goop’s controversies over the years, the 48-year-old actress continues to run a fairly successful business. The company was even featured in a six-episode Netflix special, ‘the goop lab with Gwyneth Paltrow’.
