A 51-year-old woman who served as a gestational carrier for her daughter’s baby for months has finally given birth to her own grandchild.
Julie Loving welcomed her daughter Breanna Lockwood’s first baby on Nov. 2, as per the latter’s post on her Instagram last Saturday, Nov. 7. Lockwood, 29, has been documenting her attempts at getting pregnant through her page @ivf.surrogacy.diary.
Lockwood proudly stated that her daughter, whom she named Briar Juliette, “has filled [their] hearts with so much joy.”
“My mom was an absolute rockstar through a difficult delivery. The sacrifices she took to bring this little slice of heaven into our world takes my breath away,” Lockwood expressed.

Loving decided to become a gestational carrier of Lockwood’s baby after the latter struggled with infertility for years.
“Holding my daughter in my arms my heart is bursting,” Lockwood stated. “The feeling of how I would do absolutely anything needed for this child is radiating through me when I look at her, and reflects back on what my mom did for me.“
Lockwood also stressed Loving’s importance in her life, noting that every decision she makes for her new baby was inspired by how Loving raised her.
“The way she loves and the selflessness she exudes is pure, genuine and kind,” Lockwood said of her mother.
Following Briar’s birth, Lockwood assured her followers that both her mother and daughter are currently “doing fantastic and healthy.”
Lockwood also could not help but look back on the struggles she, her husband and mother overcame for little Briar. She marked the end of the long journey by surrounding a sonogram of Briar and a heartfelt message with four years’ worth of in vitro fertilization (IVF) medication.
“Looking at this picture makes me so emotional. I think only women who have gone through IVF can see the beauty in syringes and needles,” she said.
