2030 Youth Force in the Philippines Inc. opens its annual SDG Bayanihan Summit virtually to the Filipino Youth across the country. The summit will comprise of a pre-summit workshop called, “Jumpstart” to provide an overview to the delegates; an opening ceremony to launch the bi-week long celebration of the bayanihan for the Global Goals; a two-week long reverse hackathon entitled, “Inayab Labs”, where participants will figure out the “hack” of the challenge statement per SDG pillar; and, a closing ceremony to recognize the winners of the pillar hackathons and to cap off the biggest bayanihan celebration of the year.
With the theme, “Galing Pilipinas: Simula ng Isang Dekada”, the summit aims to approach the word “Galing” in four different perspectives — galing as “source”, galing as “excellence”, and galing as “heal”. Esteemed speakers from different sectors will represent each approach with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as their forefront. As it is a reverse hackathon, the word Bayanihan was derived from “bayani”, a Filipino word which means “hero” — a person who is admired for his braveness and noble qualities — was the source of inspiration in branding the summit proper, INAYAB Labs (Innovation and Advancement for Youth Activation Building Labs).
INAYAB Labs is divided into a four-series hackathon that will focus on the 4 pillars of the 2030 Agenda — people, planet, prosperity and peace. In this two week-long hackathon, participants, which consists of SDG advocates, youth leaders, young professionals, and students, will be expected to formulate real-life solutions, and to design an effective and feasible response to the current problems of the country on their respective pillars. As part of the program, the participants will be given mentorship workshops and design-thinking sessions by the event partners and YFPH leaders.
Over 50 partners and sponsors, more than 15 speakers and mentors, and incubation programs from YFPH and selected organizations, the SDG Bayanihan Summit 2020 empowers the youth to maximize their resources and create groundbreaking plans amid the health crisis.
