Dreaming of a picnic among the vines? The French are making it a reality

Independent wineries will soon be hosting picnics so that people from all corners of France will be able to taste their vintages for free.

From Alsatian grand crus to the chateaux of Bordeaux by way of Provençal rosés, the French union of independent wine professionals is inviting wine lovers to the roughly 300 vineyards who will be participating in the 10th edition of this annual picnic.

The concept is to bring a basket of food to enjoy along with the host’s vintages. Attendees of the countrywide picnic will be able to learn about their chosen vineyard as well as about the profession of winemaking.

In accordance with the French health authorities’ current recommendations, measures will be put into place to reassure the public and prevent the risk of contamination.

The complete list of vineyards participating in the giant picnic is available at www.vigneron-independant.com. NVG
