Bathed in warmth and stillness, ISKOLARIS: After the Break opens a space for the Iskolar ng Bayan to pause and reflect. It is a moment shaped by rest and remembrance, a gathering that recognizes both the exhaustion carried through the year and the strength that comes from standing together.

After the Break

ISKOLARIS goes beyond performance and celebration. It centers the lived experiences of students who continue to serve, organize, and persevere amid worsening conditions in education and society. These stories reflect the realities faced by Filipino communities and affirm that even in moments of rest, the struggle for justice does not disappear. It becomes clearer.

The Iskolar ng Bayan has always stood against corruption, repression, and abuse of power. From the long history of labor movements remembered every Mayo Uno, to the annual September 21 commemoration of resistance against dictatorship, to recent collective actions that challenged corruption, repression, and chronic underfunding of public education, these moments shape our collective memory. They remind us that pauses are not retreats. They are part of sustaining resistance.

After the break, the calls remain firm. Higher budgets for State Universities and Colleges. Protection of academic freedom and the right to organize. Defense of press freedom. Transparency and accountability from public officials. An end to corruption and the misuse of public funds. Each gathering in ISKOLARIS becomes a quiet but resolute declaration that tyranny has no place in the future we are building.

As shared by Overall Director, Mx. Deniel Tolentino, “This event is more than just an event. It is a pahinga for every Iskolar ng Bayan and at the same time, a collective assertion of our solidarity and our united fight against corruption and a rotten system.”

Students from different colleges and organizations come together, forming a living expression of bayanihan. In shared presence and collective memory, ISKOLARIS shows that joy, rest, and resistance are inseparable.

For many, ISKOLARIS is a time to look back on the year’s struggles and victories, to strengthen bonds within the community, and to renew commitment to the nation. After the break, we return, steady and united, ready to confront corruption and tyranny in all its forms.

We invite every Iskolar ng Bayan to stand with us and carry this shared resolve into the days ahead.
