Ivana Alawi’s encounter with a homeless man proves kindness is still present amid hardships

TV personality and vlogger Ivana Alawi moved the hearts of netizens once again after sharing her encounter with a homeless man, proving kindness is always present as Filipinos.

In her vlog titled ‘Buntis,’ Alawi disguised herself as a pregnant woman to gauge public reactions to her requests for money and food. The experiment sought to reveal who would show kindness, with Alawi later rewarding those who helped her.

“Being a mom is very special. I wanted to see how pregnant women are treated and who has a kind heart,” Alawi started her vlog.

Throughout the video, several people showed kindness by giving the “pregnant woman” money and assisting her. But what caught the attention of the vlogger and her audience was a homeless man who willingly gave her money even though she didn’t ask him for it.

In the video, Alawi was shown asking money from a man eating in a sidewalk stall. While she was pursuing him to give her some, another man who walked past heard them and asked Alawi if she wanted to eat.

Upon hearing the woman’s desire to eat, the homeless man didn’t hesitate to give her a ₱10 coin even though he only had ₱15 in his pocket.

Alawi, touched by the man’s kindness, decided to help him in return.

Tatay Hesus

During their chat, the man introduced himself as Hesus Paraboles from Bicol. He told Alawi he used to work as a mason, but he had to stop after all his things were stolen. Since then, he’s been surviving on the streets.

Alawi and his team offered to give him a place to stay, but he refused, saying he only wanted a shirt, pants, and a mat to sleep on.

Despite everything he’s been through, Tatay Hesus still believed that God sees everything and listens to every prayer.

“Where can you find someone who only has ₱15, but still gives ₱10, leaving only ₱5 for himself? That’s why I believe Kuya Hesus has a kind heart,” Alawi said.

The TV personality asked for help in locating Tatay Hesus’s family. She also promised to support him—giving him food every day, helping him recover from his illness, and providing him with ₱100,000 once he gets better so he can start his life again.

“Wow. I’ve never seen someone like this before. I’ve never experienced anything like this until now. I hope others will be inspired to help, even in small ways. There are people who steal billions, yet you wouldn’t see this in them. Meanwhile, Kuya Hesus has no billions, no millions, yet he still helps others. That’s what being Filipino is all about,” she added.

The touching moment, and Alawi’s kind gesture, quickly moved netizens and gained widespread praise online.

The video highlighted how kindness remains alive among Filipinos, even in the face of life’s challenges. They are willing to help, even when they have little to give, and expect nothing in return.

People like Tatay Hesus and those who helped Alawi showed that Filipinos have generous hearts. With the Christmas season approaching, their actions serve as an inspiring reminder for everyone to practice kindness, no matter the circumstances.

“Filipinos are truly amazing. Even if they’re not very rich and don’t have a lot of money, they still help others. It’s really heartwarming. What I learned today is to always be kind.”
