For the very first time, Filipino families are invited to join Mickey, Minnie, Spidey, and their Disney Jr. friends in an unforgettable stage experience as Disney Jr. Live On Tour: Let’s Play! arrives in Manila this September. Disney Jr. Live On Tour opened this past weekend to jubilant audiences bringing the kids and kids-at-heart to their feet singing, dancing, and sharing in undeniable fun. The show runs for 0ne more weekend at the New Frontier Theater from 26 – 28 September.
The global tour has already charmed audiences in the United States, United Kingdom, UAE, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore. Now, Manila joins the list with a spectacular 10-show run. The story follows Mickey Mouse as he prepares the ultimate playdate at the Clubhouse, only to face mysterious green weather that threatens to spoil the fun. Thankfully, Team Spidey from Marvel’s Spidey and His Amazing Friends swings in to save the day. Fans can look forward to hit songs like “Hot Dog!” from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, “Oopsie Kitty” from SuperKitties, and “Do the Spidey” from Spidey and His Amazing Friends.
Adding to the excitement is the fact that the cast includes a Filipino talent, Melvin Biteng, an accomplished Filipino-American actor, singer, and dancer who is returning to perform in front of his kababayans for the very first time. Born in Japan but raised in different countries, Melvin describes himself as a Filipino at heart who considers the Philippines his true home.
“I think growing up as a Third Culture Kid has helped me become very adaptable to change and given me a more open mindset,” Melvin shared when asked about how his childhood shaped him. Having lived in places like Togo, India, Brunei, and Venezuela, he recalled how singing was the constant that tied his experiences together, whether through choirs, talent shows, or school plays. “If anything, growing up like that solidified my love for performing in a way where I wanted to share the happiness I experienced through art, song, or dance.”
Now, that passion comes full circle as he takes the stage in Manila. “It really is an incredible feeling to be back home and sharing what I love with my fellow Filipino people,” he said. “Having done this show in quite a few countries already, it just feels extra special to perform for Filipino families that may be having their first live Disney Jr. experience — or it could even be their first live stage show!”
When asked what families can expect from Disney Jr. Live On Tour: Let’s Play!, Melvin describes it as a true playdate. “This show is an interactive, magical, and musical production where families are encouraged to come and have a play date with all our Disney Jr. friends! This means bring your beautiful singing voices and your best dance moves.
You’ll also be able to show your web-skills with Spidey and his Amazing Friends! Everyone can come as they are and have a fun experience.”
The experience of finally performing in Manila has also been deeply personal for him. “Just the fact that this opportunity was created and I can be a part of it. It is a feeling I still can’t put into words. The first time I was given the news, kinikilig ako,” he recalled. He credited the producers, the touring partners, and his castmates for making this milestone possible. “Every person has supported me, big or small, on how much it means to perform and bring a show to your hometown. Seeing it all come together has felt like a dream come true.”
For Melvin, the Manila run also carries a deeper responsibility. “Performing on Disney Jr. Live is different because it’s so interactive! All the future generations of young Filipino kids can look at me and say, “Wow, maybe I can do that too!” If I have motivated, inspired or moved just one person, I’ll feel I’ve passed on the torch to keep the art of performing going.”
Of course, preparing for such a demanding run, with nine shows across two weekends, requires discipline. Melvin shared that he leans on breathing exercises, proper hydration, and even ice baths for recovery. He also finds strength in the collective energy of his cast. “An energy circle with my cast and crew helps everyone be in a positive mindset and have each others’ back before audiences walk through the doors into the theatre. Lastly, reminding myself to live in each moment once the show starts, not getting caught up with factors outside my control, is important to me.”
So why should Filipino families not miss this chance? Melvin put it best: “This is the first time Disney Jr. Live On Tour is coming to Manila and it’s the chance to see your favorite friends in person! If you’ve ever wanted to meet Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse or Spidey, this is the playdate to come see. It doesn’t matter if you’re 3 years old or 75 years old, I promise everyone will have a great time!”
When asked some fun quick-fire questions, Melvin revealed his favorite Disney Jr. character is Bo from Firebuds, his dream role is Seymour from Little Shop of Horrors, his go-to Manila comfort food is Jollibee’s Chickenjoy set meal, and that his favorite animal is the capybara, which he amusingly only saw in real life for the first time last month.
Presented by Terrapin Station Entertainment with Circles Entertainment and UnUsUaL Entertainment, Disney Jr. Live On Tour: Let’s Play! is a once-in-a-lifetime playdate where Disney magic meets Filipino pride.
The biggest playdate kicked off this weekend, September 20-21, but for those who still want to experience the magic, you can still catch the show live at the New Frontier Theater on September 26–28, 2025. Tickets are still available at TicketNet.
