OPM artist Jaya gets flamed by social media users for supporting Donald Trump

Amid the election of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States, the country’s “Queen of Soul,” Jaya, received online backlash for showing support and allegedly voting for him.

In her X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Jaya retweeted a number of tweets showing support for Trump.

Jaya reposted a tweet saying, “See these small blue patches? They make all the woke noise. They were the [Covid] cult, the climate cult, [and] the “Free Palestine” cult. And today [,] they got resoundingly defeated.”

She also retweeted another post that showed support for the victory of the president-elect.

“2 assassination attempts. 2 impeachments. 2 general election opponents in 1 cycle. 9 years of relentless slander & hoaxes. 9 years of weaponized institutions. 91 politicized charges. They threw EVERYTHING at him. Because he was fighting for ALL OF US. Against a corrupt, entrenched bureaucracy. Against a hopelessly partisan media establishment. And through it all, he persevered to orchestrate the greatest comeback in the history of politics,” the tweet said.

Some Filipino social media users were not happy with this turn of events and showered the singer with criticism in their tweets.

“Funny coz her MAGA (Make America Great Again) a– could be deported back to the country where her career is found missing,” one user said.

Some X users also posted comedic retweets about the singer’s support for Trump.

One said, “tnt si Jaya ano ka haller ito evidence oh,” with a photo of Jaya as a judge in the noontime show ‘It’s Showtime’s’ singing competition, ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan.’

Another X user said, “I’ll never sing your songs in the karaoke again.”

It can be remembered that Trump has been put on record with plans to execute mass deportations of millions of people if elected.

In December of last year, he said in a speech that migrants who come into the U.S. are “poisoning the blood of our country.” His immigration plans could be marked by the involvement of the U.S. military and massive workplace raids.

Should the president-elect commence with his proposed agenda, it could enforce a dramatic shift in the American immigration policy, which will aim at millions of undocumented immigrants and reexamine the nation’s approach to newcomers.
