He’s been there all along, we just didn’t notice!
In the online world, it has become a trend to create creative edits of main characters from all sorts of TV series, whether they’re from Hollywood, Korea, or anywhere else. These edits are usually packed with the most memorable scenes, iconic dialogues, and unforgettable moments that really showcase the characters’ roles. Sometimes, they even specifically highlight the characters’ best looks and coolest attributes, making fans fall in love with them all over again! And guess who’s the latest star getting all the editing love? Because of this, people are discovering that the Korean actor has been gracing our screens all these years, but some viewers fail to pay attention to him.
South Korean model and actor Byeon Woo Seok seems to be the latest subject of this trend with his ongoing K-drama “Lovely Runner.” In this TV series, Byeon Woo Seok plays the character Ryu Seon Jae, who is exhausted by the pressures of fame he has faced since entering the entertainment industry. When Ryu Seon Jae tragically dies, a devoted fan who finds solace in his music after a childhood accident, is miraculously transported 15 years into the past. Determined to change his fate, she meets the young Ryu and strives to prevent his future tragedy.
Understandably, with its unique storyline and the audience’s desire for more of the actor’s performance, it swiftly found its place on people’s favorite watch lists. But good news, you may add a few more while waiting for the next episodes of “Lovely Runner” and his first fan meeting in Manila on June 22 this year at the New Frontier Theater.

Fans were definitely delighted when Byeon Woo Seok was one of the lead actors in the 2020 K-drama “Record of Youth.” This drama revolves around the lives of spirited young hearts chasing dreams and love in a world where both often seem like distant stars.
Byeon Woo Seok brings to life the character of Won Hae-yo, sharing the screen with Park Bo Gum as Hye-jun. Both are bright and ambitious souls with dreams of becoming actors. Yet, while Hae-yo enjoys the comforts of wealth, Hye-jun’s journey is rooted in the humble soil of everyday life.
Moonshine (2021)
Although many had already acknowledged the actor’s talent, it was in this drama that Byeon Woo Seok clinched the Best New Actor award at the 2022 KBS Drama Awards for his exceptional portrayal of the rebellious Crown Prince Lee Pyo.
Set to be in the Joseon era, this story is about a strict prohibition on alcohol that failed to curb people’s desire for it. Among those affected were Inspector Nam Young, striving for fame in Hanyang to restore his family’s honor; Kang Ro Seo, an impoverished aristocrat making moonshine to sustain her family’s needs; and Crown Prince Lee Pyo, known for his escapades in search of a drink, even within the palace walls.
Their paths intertwine when they stumble upon a hidden cache of alcohol, a discovery that could cost them their lives if exposed.
20th Century Girl (2022)
Unlike in his previous portrayals, Byeon Woo Seok takes on the role of the male lead in this 2022 movie. He portrays the character of Woon-ho, the best friend of Hyun-jin, whom Yeon-Doo is spying on due to her sick friend’s affection for him. However, as she continues to gather information about Yeon-Doo, she finds herself becoming attracted to Woon-ho instead.
Set against the backdrop of 1999, this K-drama quickly became one of the most liked by K-drama and Korean movie viewers.
These projects offer just a glimpse into the extensive body of work Byeon Woo Seok has participated in, whether in leading roles or supporting ones. However, they are certainly sufficient to demonstrate his dedication and perseverance in the industry, leaving no doubt about the foundation for his current success. It may have taken a long time for him to acquire a lead role, but it has brought him into the spotlight, which he never expected.
