DLSU-D’s TEATRO Lasalliana to perform Deliryo sa El Niño this May

The Emilio Aguinaldo Theatre Repertory Organization, also known as TEATRO Lasalliana, plans to restage its own version of Deliryo sa El Niño (DSEN) for the third time to mark the 35th anniversary of the group. The production was first staged in 2016 at the Severino De Las Alas Hall, Alumni Auditorium of DLSU-D, then restaged in 2019 at the Salrial Ballroom Hall of DLSU-D.

DSEN is an exhilarating comedy play that weaves the threads of modern Filipino culture and humor with a rich tapestry of Philippine mythology, all set against the backdrop of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. This theatre production, translated into Filipino by Vladimeir Gonzales, was nominated as Best Original Musical at the Aliw Awards 2020.

TEATRO Lasalliana (TLS) is the sole recognized theatre organization of De La Salle University – Dasmariñas established in December 1988 and founded by Selfa Napicol and Dennis Marasigan along with seventeen inexperienced and untrained students in the field of theatre. Despite the circumstances, these students successfully pulled off three-stage plays on their first production, Lilipad Pag Pinalad, Manggagahasa Kami sa Isang Linggo, and Ramona Reyes ng Forbes Park.

TLS upholds the belief that theatre arts is a concerted, collaborative effort. The organization has been strong and consistent in creating successful individuals who have been shaped with brilliance and passion, not just for theatrical arts but also for their thriving vocations over the last 35 years. The group annually produces minor and major productions to preserve the arts and rich culture of the country and promote artistic consciousness and social awareness. Its motto, “Go for Truth,” brings the truth of society to life through creativity on the center stage.
