The National Alliance of Youth Leaders (NAYL) officially announces the new date of UGNAYAN 2016: ”ONE ASEAN: Physically Divided, Politically United” to be on May 27-29, 2016, to be held at its new venue in the University of the Philippines – Diliman. Registration to the event is also EXTENDED!
UGNAYAN is a national youth-focused event held as a three-day in-house national youth summit participated by Filipino young leaders from different schools, colleges, universities, and organizations coming from all over the country. It is a gathering of young leaders that offers new, relevant knowledge and promotes social awareness of present-day issues of the country. Not only does the event promote youth awareness, it also develops a venue for cultural exchange of ideas and opinions and instills values of teamwork, unity, and proactiveness among the young leaders of today. This year, UGNAYAN 2016 will tackle on the topic of the Political-Security Pillar of the ASEAN Integration.
Four plenaries, with a number of workshops and competitions as well, will mainly compose the event for young leaders to engage in during the three days of the event.
Plenary 1: The Political-Security Pillar of the ASEAN Integration
Learn all about the Political-Security Pillar of the ASEAN Integration especially on the agreed ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC), its aims to ensure that member states live in peace with one another and with the world, in a just, democratic, and harmonious environment.
Plenary 2: The Role of the ASEAN in the Politics, Governance, and Security of its Member States
Discuss extensively on the potential role of the ASEAN as being the focal point for inter-regional cooperation and regional stablizer among its member states and between the rest of the world, in order to create a balance and synergy among these actors and to develop dependability of action within political cooperation.
Plenary 3: A Background on the Electoral and Political System of the Philippines
Understand the electoral and political system, and even culture, that the Philippines and its people are immersed in, perhaps dating back to the Spanish era to the establishment, again and again, of a number of Philippine Republics until the one it is today.
Plenary 4: Filipino Youth in the ASEAN and in the Philippine Governance
Learn and take inspiration on where the Filipino Youth perhaps is standing at present amidst the present-day situation of Philippine politics, security, and governance, as well as in the on-going regional integration in the ASEAN Region; and how young Filipinos could realize their important role in moving forward to a better community of leaders and impassioned citizenship.
UGNAYAN 2016 is proudly convened annually and organized by the National Alliance of Youth Leaders, with the National Youth Commission, the University of the Philippines, and the DLSU College of Liberal Arts as some of this year’s lead partner institutions.
Participation to the event is open to all interested Filipino Youth from ages 15-30 years old, willing to shoulder his/her travel expenses to the event, and preferably in an active leadership role within his/her school, college, university, organization, or community.
