The Internet’s favorite tita of manila will be retiring her pearls for a while.
Mark Averilla, or better known as internet personality Macoy Dubs, has become the latest victim of cancel culture. The comedian behind the ‘Aunt Julie’ persona announced on Twitter that he will be taking a break from the character due to some people “cancelling” him on the platform.

His portrayal of the pearl-donning and outspoken Poveda alumna has brought joy to people over the Internet, especially at a time when the world can feel quite bleak.
He shares in a separate thread that despite his innocent intentions to create videos for entertainment, there will always be haters and you can’t please everyone.

It’s definitely disheartening to see a person clearly passionate about making people happy fall to trolls and unnecessary hate.
While he and ‘Aunt Julie’ will take a well-deserved break from social media, we hope that the real Macoy will return stronger than ever as fans continue to send him love and support.
