Last year, Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway left fans in a frenzy when she announced that a Princess Diaries 3 script has already been made. After news of this spread, people were quick to wonder what former Queen Clarisse Renaldi (Julie Andrews) knew about the rumored sequel. And fans got their answer when Andrews appeared on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen and shared what she knew about the supposed third film.
“The truth is I haven’t heard [about the script]. But there’s been talk about it for quite a while. I think she’s (Hathaway) is having this second child. She’s busy and I’ve been busy. And I think if it happens, it would be lovely, and if it doesn’t, I wouldn’t have known about so there you go,” she explained on the show.
However, the Sound of Music actress recently spoke to another talk show to update her sentiments about the potential third film.
According to People‘s report, Andrews said in an episode of The Talk @ Home that although she feels “awfully old and crotchety,” she would still be willing to reprise her role in the movie.
“I’m not sure if it’s the right timing, but I think to work with Annie would be lovely again. And yeah, sure I would be up for it. I think we should wait if the script comes in, just wait for that,” she said.
At the moment, no updates have yet been made on the production of the rumored Princess Diaries sequel.
But while they’re still looking for producers and a director to take on this film, the franchise’s two main stars Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews have been busy doing their own projects.
Hathaway, for instance, has two upcoming movies this 2020–namely The Last Thing He Wanted and The Witches. She’s also a full-time mom to two beautiful children.
Andrews, on the other hand, has been busy working on the activity videos based on her Netflix show Julie’s Greenroom.
We can’t wait to see what projects these two actresses come up with next. Here’s to hoping they finally give us another update on the next Princess Diaries film!
