This woman’s complexion turns green after using ‘expired’ tanning lotion

When it comes to our outward appearance, many of us go above and beyond to take care of our image. From scheduling multiple appointments to the salon to buying expensive skincare and facial products, we tend to spend a lot of time, money, and effort to look our best. And it’s good to note that this standard of beauty differs from one country to another.

In the Philippines, for instance, many individuals prefer fairer skin tones. They use a variety of whitening soaps and creams to achieve a lighter complexion. Those living in Europe or Northern America, on the other hand, consider tan skin as beautiful.

But because of budget restraints and the lack of available products, a lot of these people are relying on items they have at home to achieve their desired look. Unfortunately, for mom-of-two Jenni Coleman from Wythenshawe, England, using an old tanning lotion would cause her skin to turn light green.

According to multiple British news outlets, when Coleman found the tanning lotion behind her cabinet, she thought it was still okay to use despite having a slightly greenish hue to it. The next morning, she found herself on the brink of tears as her face, ears, and arms were tinted green.

“I actually look like a witch. When I saw myself the following morning I nearly cried, it wasn’t great, I just couldn’t believe it,” she told The Sun.

After this tanning incident, she hid in her home and tried many soaps and exfoliants to remove the color. Initially, it wasn’t coming off but after a few more days, she was able to fully remove the green pigments on her skin.

Coleman said this incident “put her off tanning for a bit” and caused many of her family and friends to ridicule her (all in good fun).

“People have been saying I looked like Grotbags and the Wicked Witch of the West,” she told news outlets.

Let Coleman’s situation be a lesson–that you should always remember to check the expiration date of your skincare products before using them.
