In the Philippines, you could easily tell that it’s Christmas time when malls start playing the same holiday anthems—all day long. And when talking about yuletide songs, the first hits that often come to mind are Jose Mari Chan’s “Christmas in Our Hearts” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You.”
Speaking of which, self-confessed Queen of Christmas Mariah Carey revealed that All I Want For Christmas Is You (the song that has been making us feel nostalgic about the holidays) would be having its own mini-documentary as part of its 25th anniversary. According to the RollingStone, the short film titled Mariah Carey Is Christmas! will highlight how Carey’s 1994 pop masterpiece turned into a Christmas song standard.
RollingStone added that the mini-doc will also include exclusive interviews with record producer Randy Jackson, Variety music editor Shirley Halperin, Billboard charts director Gary Trust and Carey’s long-time backup singer Trey Lorenz.
“Can’t wait to share this with you guys! Watch the trailer for my @AmazonMusic mini-doc, coming soon,” Carey shared on her Instagram. As early as November 1st, the Songbird Supreme’s hit song appeared on RollingStone’s charts, taking a spot at Number 62 on its Top 100 Songs. And right after that, she uploaded unreleased video footage of the said track.
From a holiday song to a mini-documentary, Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is probably the gift that keeps on giving.
