Sophie Turner was disgusted after seeing racist ‘Sansa Stark’ meme

Even to this day, white supremacy or racism is still apparent and powerful in many countries. And, despite a decade-long battle to root out racial bias, there are instances wherein people–especially those from ethnic minorities–experience inequality, exclusion, and injustice.

Although it’s going to be an arduous task to eradicate racial discrimination, there are celebrities who use their fame to make a difference. Recently, HBO star Sophie Turner–who played Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones and Jean Grey in the rebooted X-Men franchise–has slammed the use of her photo to promote racism.

A now-deleted tweet, the meme used an image of Sansa Stark with a caption, “Purity in Race and Culture.” It also told white people to keep their race “pure” and not “destroy it by genetic mixing.”

Appalled by racist tweet, Turner immediately responded to it, saying: “Ew. Please don’t use me to promote racism.”

Of course, Game of Thrones fans were always quick to express their support to the “Lady of Winterfell.”

Actually, this is not the first time that Turner has condemned such racist appeals. Last year, she was also praised by netizens by calling out “racist” and “sexist” article, involving Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas.
