Applications open: WYAAP Summer Camp 2018

Sun’s out, fun’s in!

The World Youth Alliance Asia Pacific (WYAAP) is now accepting applications for the 12th WYAAP Summer Camp to be held on May 28 to June 2, 2018. This year’s camp will be in the white sand beaches of Antique province in the Philippines.

The camp is a 6-day learning and leisure opportunity designed for Asia Pacific youth to expand their knowledge about human dignity and their role in development through completing the WYA Certified Training Program–a course that provides a comprehensive summary of philosophical, historical, and modern-day ideas that focus on the dignity of the person and human rights advocacy. It also provides the foundation for the mission of the World Youth Alliance.

The summer program presents an opportunity for holistic self-development, cultural exchange, and leadership training through lectures, discussions, and team-building activities. It aims to train youth in communicating articulately in the discourse of human dignity in order to engage local and international communities in developing person-centered solutions to global issues.

“Our discussion on solidarity reminded me that all of us are alike regardless of our beliefs and principles. Because of this, we must have a sense of universal responsibility which will be vital in maintaining unity among individuals,” shared Justine Grace Fronda, summer camp graduate and an officer of the WYA Ateneo de Zamboanga Chapter.

Several graduates of the WYAAP Summer Camp have taken on leadership positions on their schools and campuses, established WYA Chapters and other social-impact organizations around the world, initiated programs for their communities, and represented WYA and their countries in regional and international forums such as those held at the United Nations, the European Union, and many others. The camp has since welcomed graduates from Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.
