Miss Universe, DOT, join Skyjet Airlines inaugural flight to Camiguin

MANILA, Philippines – SKYJET Airlines, the Country’s No.1 Leisure Airline, will be launching the very first direct flight from Manila to Camiguin island today, December 8, 2017. Gracing the inauguration event are Miss Universe beauty queens from China, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Italy and our very own Miss Universe-Philippines Rachel Peters, who are flying to the island to explore its wonders.

Together with the Department of Tourism (DOT), SkyJet Airlines is positive that the direct flights from Manila to Camiguin shall boost the tourism potential of the island. With the new route of SkyJet Airlines, passengers are set to experience a smooth, comfortable and fastest flights to this beautiful island destination.

Tourism Secretary Wand Teo said that the best ambassadors of Philippine Tourism are the Miss Universe Beauties, considering their large following from different parts of the world.

Camiguin, also known as the island born of fire, has captured the attention of the netizens when the Camiguin Provincial Tourism Council released a viral promotional video featuring the island’s undescribable splendor. Hitting more than a million views after its release, the island is now bound to become a top destination in the country.

SkyJet Airlines’ Direct flights from Manila to Camiguin will officially start this Febuary 2018. Today’s maiden flight is the kick off of SkyJet’s newest route with direct flights from Manila. “This is Good News for all of us! Camiguin will be more accessible to tourists both foreign and from Manila. We’ve been waiting for this for a long time now! Thank you to SkyJet Airlines! No more stop overs in Cebu and Cagayan de Oro.” Said Camiguin will just be 60 munutes away from Manila via SkyJet Airlines!” Said Congressman XJ Romualdo of Lone District of Camuigin.  
DOT gives their full support in promoting the country’s promising destinations such as Batanes and Camiguin. As one of DOT’s efforts in showcasing the beauty of the country, the newly crowned Miss Universe 2017 Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa and her predecessor Miss Universe 2016 Iris Mittenaere, together with 14 other beauties, are touring the Philippines on December 6 to 10. Other destinations included in their tour are Batanes and Bohol.

Last year, SkyJet Airlines launched the Philippines’ first direct flights to Siargao Island where many businesses owners admitted to have thriven due to the plenitude of passengers that selects SkyJet Airlines as their carrier. In 2018, SkyJet looks forward to paving the way for tourism industry of Camiguin to flourish.
