Instagrammable cosplay and headline-worthy program and activities are only some of the things that make The Best of Anime (BoA) the much-anticipated anime convention of 2017. Get ready to have an awesome experience with the solid line up of activities and guests during The Best of Anime 2017 on September 9 and 10 at the 3rd level of SMX Convention Center Manila.
With its aim of promoting Japanese Pop Culture and Music through education, exhibition and entertainment, the Best of Anime continues to raise the bar for anime conventions in the Philippines by bringing in sought-after foreign guests artists and cosplayers and offering new competitions and stage activities for fans and enthusiasts. Cosplayers who will grace the event this year are Reika (Japan), Yuegene Fay (Thailand) and Liu&Hana (Taiwan). Artists who will perform during the Convention are Jpop lolita idol group STARMARIE and one of the Japan’s leading bands, SPYAIR.
Considered as the top cosplayer in the world, Reika has become a certified jet setter guesting from one convention to another as she imparts her knowledge in cosplay, costume making, makeup and anything and everything about the cosplay world. She has made over 600 costumes and has been cosplaying for more than twenty years.
Just like Reika, Yuegene Fay is also one of the most popular cosplayers around the world. She loves her craft and it shows in her cosplay which include real life personalities and anime characters Toshiya (Dir en Grey), Johannes Krauser II (Detroit Metal City) and Ichinose Tokiya (Uta no Prince-sama). Other than cosplay, she is also passionate about visual kei.
Sharing the limelight, cosplayer duo Liu&Hana started out separately in 2000 and 2002 respectively. It was only in 2012 when they finally came together and became known as Liu&Hana. They are best known for their Aomine and Kagami cosplay from the anime series, “Kuroko’s Basketball”.
Moving on to the guest artists, Jpop lolita idol group STARMARIE will take the Best of Anime stage again this year. Composed of Nozomi, Shino, Monya, Hiroka and Kaede, STARMARIE continues to rise to fame with one of their latest songs, “Natsuninare!” as the ending theme song of the anime series “Cardfight!! Vanguard G: Next”.
As earlier stated, SPYAIR highlights the 3rd Ongaku Fest . The band composed of IKE, UZ, MOMIKEN & KENTA are coming to the Philippines to perform for the very first time on our shores. They are famous in the otaku and anime community for their songs that serve as opening and ending theme songs of different anime series including Bleach, Gintama and Haikyuu!!.
Other than the guests, The Best of Anime stands out for its day-long program during its two-day run. Film showings, various workshops, competitions and performances comprise the schedule of activities for The Best of Anime 2017. Starting with a film showing on both days, workshops on cosplay and martial arts follow along with song, dance and cosplay competitions. Then the event culminates with the 3rd Ongaku Fest.
As the program unfolds, fan meet and greets of the guest cosplayers and artists take place in the different meeting rooms of SMX Convention Center Manila specifically Meeting Rooms 7, 8, 9 and 10 starting from 11:00 A.M. until 6:00 P.M.
